So, as soon as I began reading this book, I thought it was kinda like Catcher in the Rye. Esther reminded me of Holden, but the whole time I was reading it, I wasn’t annoyed at all. Granted Holden was telling about before going crazy and Esther was telling before, during, and when she was turning back into pretty normal.
It was weird, especially because I know this was supposed to be a semiautobiographical book of Plath’s own experiences. To think this could really go on inside someone’s head is crazy. But I was happy Esther did get better in the end. Unlike Plath…
Blast from the Past is a weekly post I write that focuses on a book I read long before I ever had a blog about books. While I didn’t “book blog” until a couple of years ago, I’ve kept a reading journal of sorts for about 6 years. Blast from the Past is essentially just my way of digitalizing my old book journals–and reminding me what I thought of books long since read. I think it will be a fun way to look at how my reading selections have changed and what I like most in the books I read.
